June 23, 1995 The files pgp262g.zip and pgp262g2.zip are DOS and OS2 compiled versions respectfully... You may find them of value, then again you might not... Follows is the readme.1st file enclosed in the archive... Uploading it in case there is interest, but I am not "distributing" or other wise responsible for them... however if you desire to email me hate mail, address it to: gkp@ids.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- May 21, 1995 How did you obtain this copy of PGP which isn't supposed to exist? I sure don't know... and I hope that you do not know either! This isn't supposed to exist because it contains bug fixes and enhancements which have not been sanctioned... since this is an unauthorized copy of PGP, you really should distroy it immediately, right now, before even reading this document further! . D .. O ... N .... ' ..... T ...... ....... P ........ A ......... G .......... E ........... ............ D ............. O .............. W ............... N ................ ! Well... since you obviously haven't (yet) taken my advise to distroy this copy of PGP, I might as well describe the differences between this copy of PGP, and the authorized version... - - The authorized version claims to handle 2048 bit keys, but has bugs which interfere with this... for example the authorized version cannot make a 2048 bit key. When trying to make a 2048 bit key, it'll produce a 2047 bit key. THIS copy of PGP can create and handle 4096 bit keys. (yes it really can!) - - The authorized version forces you to have the PGP documentation on your disk where PGP can locate it, or to use a convoluted command-line to override it. THIS copy doesn't force such bull-shit upon you... - - The authorized version uses the RSAREF Tool-Kit. THIS ONE DOES NOT! - - The authorized version produces output which cannot be used by versions prior to 2.6. THIS one does too... but allows you to override this "feature" by setting a variable in the PGP.INI configuration file, or by including "+old_version=on" on the command-line. Altho this is not recommended, some have a need to communicate with those using the older versions from time to time... - - The authorized version identifies itself as version 2.6.2 in it's output. THIS one does too by default... but it allows this to be over-ridden by setting a variable in the PGP.INI configuration file, or by including "+version=nnn" on the command-line. This allows you to make PGP use an alias... - - The authorized version had a few bugs... THIS one has had all known and/or reported bugs fixed... Refer to the sample PGP.INI enclosed, for information on the enhanced settings. Be sure to verify the signature for the executable file... you may need to process the key contained in the keys.asc file to verify the signature, unless you already have the Public Key for the Rebellious Guerrilla... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.2 iQCVAwUBL79oRcF94nAc8jJdAQE64QP+NTH0enwy3rBuL1A0PeLgHN5Uu1bXg2cj nfrSShI+gDWK1cwKhhX0RhsGg76b/yG/sRl5XikhF2r9f+15AriDCq63UQ3ryOf7 rQy/m5YxwKt7n5QficGALKyXx4QDrlFI4SzAvSlIAn8NFXTcq9t3Jb3nyTd1Vzil 2uZlbA2gWFQ= =OSI4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
